So, I've had this cast photo of the primary four from Diagnosis Murder for close to ten years. I picked it up at a convention because it is my guilty pleasure fandom, one that I adore to this day. Of course, I would never get the chance to get one of them to sign the photo, let alone all four.

Right?
RIIIIIIIIGHT.... )
So, we had an insanely busy weekend. The short version here, more detail below the cut with PICTURES!!!!!!

SATURDAY: College football, Oregon vs. USC down here in SoCal. As Anndie and I are Oregon alumni, we HAD to go to this one. Anndie went to the ESPN Gameday broadcast in the morning and we went to the game later together (I had no interest in Gameday, plus getting up at OMGDARKTHIRTY.) Football game was epic win (Oregon wins 53-32 or some such ridiculous thing).

SUNDAY: Hair (story below), Long Beach Comic-Con (OMG see below) and Disneyland Trick-or-Treat party (SO MUCH MORE BELOW.)

Pictures, stories, GLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH!!!!! )
Well, I (Surreal, not Anndie - as Anndie is a WIMP) survived working another Weekend of Horrors convention. Not much to say other than it was as awesome as the others and the picture below the cut says it all.

SQUEE )
UGH. I've been waiting two weeks for the last of my last cold to go away (y'all remember the ear thing? Yeah, it's *still* not totally gone). Now I'm sick AGAIN. Spent today at the convention absolutely miserable after waking up at 1am with a sore throat and having no cold drugs to take with me for the day. Ended up eating about twenty sore throat drops in an attempt to survive. Am currently bundled up in a nice fleece blanket and looking forward to bed.

Here's the convention wrap-up.

Saturday - Richard Speight Jr, Charles Malik Whitfield, Jason Manns and Samantha Smith were the main guests of the day. Found out Richard was one of the leads in "Band of Brothers," which was neat. He's also been in lots of other things, including "Life." Cute but was lookin' scruffy - longer hair, pathetic attempt at a beard. But doofy and fun. I sat with Malik for autographs and he was really nice, mellow and occasionally goofy. Way younger looking than his pictures from the show (and since he's left-handed, he kinda ended up in my lap half the time since I was on his left...that was alright *grin*). Anndie sat with Jason Manns (he does songs for the show) and she thought he was cute and funny, too.

Sunday - "The Boys" day, so Anndie and I hid like a desperate hiding thing in the vendor's room because no WAY were we dealing with the chaos that surrounds Jared and Jensen. Though late in the day got to see Misha Collins during photo ops, since we got roped into working around that section. He was mildly cute, considering until yesterday I assumed he was a woman (based on the name and the name of his character).

That's about it. Next up - Fangoria in three weeks. \o/

Oh - and on a totally unrelated note (due to Anndie and I talking about completely random stuff while bored out of our asses) - we also discovered that the Star Wars character "Kit Fisto" is indeed a man. In case anyone was wondering.

*is over here still gigging at the name "Kit Fisto"*

General check-in for anyone wanting to meet up and say HI at the SG con in Burbank in a week and a half. Both of us (Surreal and Anndie) will be there, as always - but this time as fans rather than volunteers. If anyone's gone to this con (or any Creation con in southern California) in the last four years, you've seen us around, usually as handlers for the actors. Let us know if you're coming and we'd love to meet you!!

ETA: MORE ADDED from Anndie's binder- Done now, I swear!!!

Okay, as if you all don't already think I'm nuts, here goes.

Some of you know that both of us, Anndie and Surreal, have been volunteers for a big convention company for the last few years. That means we get a *lot* of autographs, including 8x10s. Now, as much fun as it is to let them pile up, we both would actually rather they go to REAL fans of some of these shows/actors that we are not. So, here's the deal. I'm going to put up a list and where possible, link to a visual of what exactly I'm offering (because I'm too lazy to scan all the ones I'm willing to give up). These pictures, with their autographs, are retail valued from $25 and up. While they don't come with "certificates of authenticity," I can promise that I was present for every single one of these being signed (often being the person poking the actor to hurry the hell up), so they're all authentic. :D

I'm offering any of them for $10 each, including shipping costs. Place claims here, then shipping addresses can be exchanged privately after.

The List )

PHEW. Feel free to point others this way, if you know of any raving fans of these people!
So, I (alone, Anndie was a wimp and didn't come) worked the Fangoria convention at LA Con. Center this weekend. Translation: I was the volunteer supervisor, gave up 36 hours of my life over 3 days. For those not familiar with Fangoria - it's horror (specifically, a horror magazine that's been around for quite a while, I guess). Overall, I'm glad I went. It was INSANE in the busy sense - literally hundreds of actors, producers, writers, directors, screamers, models, composers, and all the possible combinations of friends/family/publicists/managers they have in their entourage.

Notable people I was lucky enough to talk to over the weekend: Corbin Bernsen (MASSIVE SQUEE!!! He was SO nice, so funny, and he signed my volunteer badge!), Patricia Tallman (she said I was adorable and petted my sparkly shirt), Tony Todd (I adored this man, he made me laugh so hard), Ken Foree, Clive Barker, Angus Scrimm, Joe Dante, Ray Wise, Shawn Roberts, some cast members from a new show called "Moonlight" that I don't watch (Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, and Jason Dohring), and *dramatic pause* GEORGE A. ROMERO. Seriously, I can't believe I have the privilege of saying I've talked to this man (along with a TON of others - 40th anniv. of "Night of the Living Dead" reunion).

Needless to say, I also met/worked with dozens more, people involved in specific movie projects, and anyone curious who reads this can just ask and I'll be happy to reply in more detail.
We're in the middle of convention season and this weekend is the Grand Slam convention in Burbank. Strictly volunteering this year, not buying tickets for any days this time. The only person we really care about seeing is James Marsters, who we saw last year too - this time we'll try to go to his concert.

Anyway - anyone on our f'list, or anyone else who sees this - LET US KNOW if you're going!!! We always find out after cons that people we would love to have met had been there and we never knew. Comment here if you plan to go - both of us are regular volunteers with the Creation Ent. company down here.
